The town officials are mak ing an effort to borrow or rent a pump to bring water from a nearby stream into the town water works. The shortage of water is desperate and town officials are requesting all consumers not to water their lawn, flower gardens, irrigate, wash cars, or use water in any way not absolutely neces sary until relief by big rains has Ka given. The town hopes' to e its new water system facili increased as soon as technical and engineering plans have been complete! . . . Toight at7:45 is Duplicate Bridge night, open to everyone at Oak Hall. The Indian Pageant at Lake Lanier at 8 p. m., open to the public . . . Mrs. Flor ence Martin, wife of Rev. A. C. Martin of Mill Spring, is in Spar tanburg Hospital suffering serious injuries as the result of her auto mobile skidding on wet pavement near Chesnee Wednesday . . Dr. W. L. Norville of the Rutherford Polk Health Department, has re signed to accept a similar position with Alamance County. Dr. G. O. Moss has been elected to succeed him temporarily. Phillips Funeral Today Funeral services for George V. Phillips who died at 2:15 a. m., Wednesday will be held this af ternoon at 4:30 at Highland Bap tist Church in Upper Greenville County. Services will be conducted by Rev. Albert Johnson, Dr. J. Dean Crain, Rev. H. O. Hearn, Rev. T. E. Reid, Rev. A. A. Scoggins. #P®tty Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The body will be at the church at 3:30. The pall bearers: Carl, Harold, Allen, Gary Phillips, John and Charlie Ballen ger. In addition to the survivors list ed Wednesday the name of a daughter, Mrs. Winfred Ravan of Landrum R-2, was omitted. Little Rites Today Funeral services for Mrs. W. F. Little will be held this- after noon at 4 o’clock at the Church of the Holy Cross with the Rev. Dr.. GeoGrge Farrand Taylor officiating. Interment in Tryon cemetery. McFarland Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers: An son Merrick Jr., Dr. J. A. Austin Woody, George H. Holmes, John G. Landrum Jr., Seth M. Vining Jr.,'and Nelson Jackson II. General King At Rotary General E. P. King Jr., of Salu da and Brunswick, Ga., will be the guest speaker at the Tryon Ro tary Club Friday. Demus Chap man will be in charge of the pro gram. -y Walter Winchell reported the other day that despite denials Ginger Rogers and Commander Jim Kimberly may marry in Chicago.
